Your Ultimate Guide to the ‘No Makeup, Makeup’ Look.
Mastering the ‘no makeup, makeup’ look takes a little bit of preparation, a little bit of product, and a light touch. But it can be achieved relatively easily, with the right products. The key is to prep the skin, use products that are lightweight, leave a very natural finish on the skin, and opt for colours that mimic the natural undertones your skin.
Follow these steps for an au-naturale, ‘I’m just genetically blessed’, barely there makeup look. Perfect for the upcoming Summer months!
Skin Prep
An absolute must for ‘no makeup, makeup days’ is to ensure your skin is cleansed, exfoliated, hydrated and moisturised prior to applying makeup. You’ll achieve a much smoother application, and you’re more likely to fool anyone into thinking your skin has that natural glow. First, cleanse with a brightening cleanser such as the Luxe Botanics Brightening Cleanser. This lightweight, creamy cleanser will unclog pores, remove all dirt, excess oil and thoroughly cleanse the skin whilst enriching it with camu camu berry, green tea extracts and Vitamin C. These brightening ingredients will give your skin a natural radiance and even out the skin tone without irritation.
To help remove dead skin cells that can leave your skin looking tired and dull, apply the Evolve Beauty Miracle Mask, and leave on for 10-15 minutes, rinse off and pat dry. This mask contains glycolic acid from sugar cane to nibble away at dead skin cells and reveal brighter skin. Peruvian maca also helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and boost the skin’s luminosity.
Next, give you your skin a boost of hydration with the Luxe Botanics Brightening Mist. This soothing, calming mist is packed full of botanical ingredients to instantly plump, prime and prep your skin for makeup. The high levels of antioxidants in the plant extracts will enliven your complexion. Follow with the Ere Perez Australian Blue Cypress Face Nectar and pat onto the skin whilst it is slightly damp from the mist. This fast absorbing, lightweight oil will provide your skin with the ultimate dewy glow, providing an even base for makeup application.
Base
Keep it natural and lightweight with the Ere Perez Quinoa Water Foundation. Apply with the Multi-Purpose Brush and blend down the neck for a seamless finish. Lift dark circles with a creamy, lightweight concealer, we used ZAO Makeup Organic Concealer and blended under the eyes in a tapping motion to melt it into the skin. Conceal any areas of redness, such as around the nose with the same concealer, keeping the finish light to avoid it looking like you are wearing makeup. To add extra brightness under the eyes, apply the Couleur Caramel Perfect Complexion. This is like a boost of light to lift and brighten the under eye area, think Touche Eclat, but with natural ingredients!
To set the base and ensure everything stays in place, dust some of the Hynt Beauty Radiance Powder over the T-Zone. This adds a subtle luminescence to the skin for a healthy, dewy glow without that powdery finish.
Eyes
Keep it super simple on the eyes by adding a light dusting of subtle shimmering powder to the eyelids with a blending brush. We used the Hynt Beauty Radiance Powder first, then the Hynt Beauty Perfetto Pressed Eyeshadow in ‘Linen Kiss’ to add a slight shimmering warm, golden ivory shade that reflects the light. To add a little more depth, apply the ZAO Makeup Matte Eyeshadow in 208 Nude to the crease of the eye. This adds another dimension to the eyes to help shape and define.
Avoid eyeliner as this is a dead giveaway that you are wearing makeup! Finish with mascara and comb through well so there are no clumps. We love the NUI Cosmetics Natural Mascara in Pango (black) if you are dark haired, and Parauri (brown) if you are blonde or fair haired.
Cheeks & Lips
For a pop of colour to the cheeks and lips, choose a colour that is closest to your natural lip colour. We used Ere Perez Carrot Colour Pot in Harmony. With a clean finger, dab a small amount to the apples of the cheeks and blend upwards and outwards along the cheekbones until it melts into the skin. If you have a darker skin tone, opt for the Carrot Colour Pot in either Holy or Happy, depending on the undertone of your skin. Apply the same colour to the lips, but mix it in with a tiny amount of BYBI Beauty Lip Plumper to create a tinted lip balm and to tone down the colour. You want to add just a touch of colour and dab onto the lips to avoid that made up ‘lipstick’ look.
For the last step, squeeze out a tiny amount of BYBI Beauty Babe Balm onto the back of your hand, mix in a little of the Hynt Beauty Radiance Powder, and dab with your ring finger onto the highest point of your cheekbones. This adds that beautiful dewy, glowing highlight to the cheeks that makes you look healthy, fresh and awake!
Try this look for size and you will fool anyone into thinking you have blagged a week of sleep, copious amounts of green tea and daily facials!
