Detox your Skin After the Holidays

Detox your Skin After the Holidays

Late nights, sugary, fatty food and alcohol all take their toll on your skin and can throw your body out of balance for those few days of over indulgence during the festive season. But, we should never let that stop us having a good time with friends and family! Christmas and New Year’s is all about celebration, so don’t feel guilty about having seconds at Christmas dinner, or eating a few too many of the chocolates being passed around.

Most of us feel a little sluggish and run down in January after the fun is over. The New Year is a great time to get your healthy routine back on track and ease yourself back into your usual daily routine.

Here are a few tips to help get your skin back on track and glowing again!

1. Use products with hyaluronic acid to hydrate skin from deep within.

Hyaluronic acid is suitable for ALL skin types. It gives the skin an intense boost of hydration because it has the incredible ability to hold up to 1000x its weight in moisture. Hyaluronic acid is something our bodies make naturally, but the amount we produce depletes as we age, so it works particularly well for mature skin. Your skin is more than likely severely dehydrated after the festive season, so we recommend using the Evolve Beauty Hyaluronic Acid Serum every day to bring back that glow.

2. Calm and soothe irritated skin with a face mist.

You may wear a little more makeup than usual around the festive season, as well as eating foods your body may not agree with. This can lead to stressed out skin and even allergic reactions. It is important to use soothing and calming products to help your skin feel more balanced and happy. A face mist is perfect for using at anytime throughout the day if your skin starts to feel a little parched or dry. We love this Defence Moisture Mist from Evolve Beauty as it contain Prickly Pear which has been proven to calm irritated skin. It also contains African moringa peptides to protect against pollutants as it has a high level of antioxidants to fight off free radicals that contribute to pre-mature ageing.

3. Treat your skin to a deep cleansing mask.

A deep cleansing clay mask will help to draw out impurities from the skin, and  provide beneficial minerals to rejuvenate the complexion. Use a mask 2-3 times a week for the next couple of weeks following the holiday season. This will help to resurface and treat tired skin, as well as offering a gentle exfoliation to get rid of dead skin cells. This detoxifying clay mask from Corinne Taylor will draw out impurities in the skin with Activated Charcoal and Bentonite Clay. It also contains essential oils Tea Tree Oil and Eucalyptus which work well for healing blemishes and providing anti bacterial properties. Clay masks work best on normal to oily skin types, if you have very dry skin I would use a more moisturising mask such as Evolve Beauty Radiant Glow Mask.

For those with dryer skin types, a nourishing oil is a sure way to get your skin looking radiant and glowing again. This Radiance Oil from Supermood contains 7 different plant oils to bring life back into your skin. It will help to repair any damage, deeply moisturise and regenerate the skin back to its former glory. Use instead of a moisturiser day and night for balanced, happy skin.
