Clean Beauty Skincare Dupes

Clean-Beauty-Skincare-Dupes

In previous blog posts we have found dupes for some of the cult classic makeup products (read here), as well as foundations and lipsticks. But we haven’t yet explored the duplicates for some of the most sought after skincare products on the market. With our skincare range expanding month on month, we are convinced you will find the perfect natural and organic alternative to your current bathroom cabinet faves! Read on to discover some safer alternatives.

1. Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water – Swap it for: Lady Green Cleansing Micellar Water

Organic-Micellar-Water

When I was working as a makeup artist on film shoots, the Garnier Cleansing Water was in every makeup artists kit, it was popular due to its cheap price, the huge bottles making it very cost effective (but also bulky and heavy!), and because it removed makeup with ease. The downside is that Garnier test their products on animals, a big no no in my book, and I will not use a product by a brand that condones animal testing in any capacity.

So I went on a mission to find a product that performed just as well, and still didn’t break the bank. Enter…Lady Green Cleansing Micellar Water. Even after trying this for the first time, I knew I was on to a winner. 99% of its ingredients are from natural origin, and it performs BETTER than the Garnier Cleansing Water. It doesn’t sting the eyes (even the Garnier one did this despite claiming it was suitable for sensitive eyes and skin), and also contains fruit extracts that work towards clearing blemishes and breakouts. It is generally an all round better product because the ingredients it contains actually have a purpose, and that purpose is to improve and nourish the skin, rather than just remove makeup.

2. Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish – Swap it for: Living Nature Vitalising Cleanser

Living-Nature-Vitalising-Cleanser

Whilst the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish doesn’t contain some of the worst ingredients on the market, it does still contain a synthetic preservative that has been linked to causing allergies (Phenoxyethanol). If you prefer to keep your cleanser as natural as it gets, then opt for the Living Nature Vitalising Cleanser instead. It works amazingly well on normal, dry and mature skin. Living Nature use a lot of Manuka Honey in their products because it has been proven to have an amazing affect on the moisture and hydration levels in the skin. It draws moisture to the skin, prevents blemishes, and even slows down signs of ageing, read more about the benefits of Manuka Honey here. The Vitalising Cleanser works in a similar way to the Cleanse and Polish, massage into dry skin, then rinse off using a warm muslim cloth (you can also just use fingers with the Vitalising Cleanser and it works just as well).

3. Simple Kind to Skin Face Wipes – Swap it for: EcoCare Organic Facial Wipes

Organic-Face-Wipes-EcoCare

Despite claiming to be suitable for sensitive skin, the simple face wipes contain many ingredients that are on our ‘strictly avoid’ list due to the reports of links to cancer, disruption of the endocrine system and being too harsh for delicate skin. The EcoCare Organic Facial Wipes are much more gentle yet effective solution to quick makeup removal. The certified organic ingredients ensure that the environment is not being affected by the production of this product, they are also alcohol free meaning the skin won’t be dried out and they also contain soothing ingredients such as aloe vera to prevent redness in the skin.

4. Clinique Face Cream SPF 30 – Swap it for: Hynt Beauty Sun Prep Broad Spectrum SPF 30

Hynt-Beauty-Organic-SPF-30-Face-Cream

As the weather warms up and we are spending much more time outdoors, it’s even more important to wear an SPF to protect your delicate skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays. The skin on our face needs an SPF that is lightweight in texture so it sits nicely under makeup, most of the SPF lotions for bodies are too heavy and can clog pores. The Clinique SPF 30 Face Cream was always my go-to before going down the natural route, now I prefer to use this multi-tasking SPF from Hynt Beauty. It feels so lightweight on the skin, with a non greasy, non sticky, very smooth finish. It acts like a primer, moisturiser and sun protectant all in one, it contains anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that hydrate and soothe the skin. It also smells amazing thanks to the mix of amazing plant extracts and oils! We do samples here should you wish to try this product before committing to a full size.
